Extra Curricular Clubs
GARDENING CLUB
Bamford runs an all year round Gardening Club on a weekly basis in the Summer months and a fortnightly basis in the Winter months. The Gardening Club is very popular within the school community and is highly over subscribed. It has its own allotment within the school grounds for which it won the 'Best Rochdale School in Bloom Award 2010'. The club sows, grows and harvests a range of crops such as onions, potatoes, radishes, peas, beans, cucumbers, tomatoes and pumpkins - all of which were used within the school kitchen as well as by the parents of the children in the club. During the winter months, the club learns about planting bulbs ready for the Spring as well as indoor projects such as decorating planters or making wind chimes for the school grounds. The school gardening club is a real hit !
DANCE CLUB
At Bamford Primary School we offer the children a chance to be involved in dance at all ages. We run two clubs: one for Key Stage 1 pupils and one for Key Stage 2 pupils. This takes place on a weekly basis, usually starting in January leading up to performing at 'Bamford's Got Talent' in the Summer term. The children learn different styles of Dance each year including Hip Hop, Contemporary and Latin American. Dance Club takes place on Mondays from 3:00pm to 4:15pm.
FILM CLUB
Film Club takes place on a Monday night between 3:00pm and 4:30pm. The children get the chance to watch unusual films that they perhaps would not watch at home and are able to use their special film club passes to access an online forum where they can write reviews and blogs about a film that they have seen.
LEGO CLUB
Every year Bamford Primary School takes part in the First Lego League UK competition. Ten pupils selected from Year 5 and 6 work together to find a solution for a worldwide problem and then create a presentation which is shared with the school and the community. The team will also work together to build and program a Lego Mindstorms robot to perform tasks. In December, the team travels to Middleton CLC to compete against primary and secondary schools in the local area. Lego Club runs on a Thursday from 3:15 - 4:15pm September - December.
