ICT: Co-ordinator - Miss Cupid-Brown

The ICT provision at Bamford ensures that children have access to a wide range of resources. ICT is an important part of modern day life and is integrated in to most curriculum subjects.

The school has its own ICT suite equipped with Apple Mac laptops and five Apple Mac computers. The children are taught to use these at least once a week starting in Reception and have created some wonderful work using the array of programs they have available to them.

Each classroom has its own interactive whiteboard which allows the children to participate in interactive learning activities. We have a visualiser per unit which allows books, artifacts and other items of interest to be shown on the interactive whiteboard for the children to explore and discuss. The classrooms are also equipped with two Apple Macs which the children can use during lessons for a variety of tasks.

We have recently introduced two iPads to our classes. These are used with small intervention groups and within class group work to help the children discover and learn through interactive activities.

Bamford has been video conferencing with schools around the world for the past few years and we are continuing to forge new relationships with international schools using this fantastic technology. We also use our video conferencing system to deliver lessons to the children from museums, art galleries and other sites from around the world.

The school is currently developing a Virtual Learning Environment which we hope will help further the children’s learning outside school and allow parents to see the wonderful work that the children produce each year. We hope to have this up and running in the near future.

At Bamford we believe that having our finger on the pulse of technology allows us to keep the children informed of the skills they need to keep up with and thrive in an ever changing world.

This section explains the aims, principles and strategies for the use of ICT at Bamford Primary School.
