Gifted and Talented

We are a member of the National Association for Gifted Children. We have many children who are gifted or talented in particular areas. These children are recognised by their class teacher of a TA through a variety of ways including class work and assessment tasks or tests, they may then be placed on our Gifted and Talented register. Our gifted and talented register is fluid and children are often moved on and off the register if they are showing a particular aptitude for one element of a subject E.G Gymnastics in PE or Sketching in Art. Your child's teacher will be aware of their needs and they will be planned for on the planning. We also provide a range of extra-curricular clubs from the school. As a school we produce a monthly Newspaper. This Newspaper club is run by the children for the children. All members of Newspaper Club have been identified as having a particular talent by their teacher. The members of the Newspaper club are changed on a termly basis so that all of our talented children have the chance to partcipate.

Gifted and Talented is not recognised solely by attainment, it can also come to light if children are given the opportunity to achieve in a certain area. For this reason we have introduced a 'Fabulous File' over the past academic year. Every half term we run a project based on a different curriculum area. Teachers are given a topic and then asked to identify two children whom they believe either have a gift or talent in that particular area or when given the chance will make a substantial achievement. These children have thoroughly enjoyed the different projects they participated in. These include; Art, Inventions, Science, Poetry. We intend to carry on this project for the foreseeable future.
