Visits and Links

We are very lucky to have made links with schools in other countries. We also support our staff with their career development by encouraging overseas visits and training.

We have an ongoing project with a school in the Mangalore region of India, all classes in the school are directly involved in a work exchange program with the school whereby every half term we send and receive work to the children. In February this year, Miss Cupid-Brown and Ms Rivero went to India to visit our partner school. The trip was very interesting and they were anle to eat amazing food, see lots of incredible sights and meet some lovely people. They have 60 to a class in Canara Higher Primary School and still use chalk boards to write on – a far cry from our iPads and cosy classrooms. The head teacher and deputy came to visit Bamford in April to see our school for themselves. They had never been to Europe before. This year more teachers will be taking part in this incredible experience and the children will be paired up into pen pals for a whole school project. The theme of the project is developing Values and we are hoping to plan another reciprocal visit early in 2011.

The youngest members of our school have also caught the 'International Bug!' Our two Reception classes have just started a year long video-conferencing project with Gayhead Elementary School, in New York. We will be taking part in monthly sessions where we will buddy up and share work about the similarities and differences between our homes and schools.

Miss Litherland and Mrs Hunter also took part in an International Development visit to Bucharest, the focus was Creativity. They came back with lots of ideas about how to develop our creative curriculum after visiting many private and public schools.
